Paper fastener Animal Art ( A highly recommended library programme)

I think this programme is real cool! I just have to recommend it.

We have just brought our little one to the Queenstown Library to attend to this particular programme and I am glad we did not miss it though the sky is threatening to rain heavy any moment!

Could you believe these are made only with paper fasteners? No glue or tape involved.

The 1.5 hr session start with an Aesop's Fable, "The Lion and the Mouse". During the story telling, the children were taught to sing "Someday I will help you". The teachers taught the children to recite the words after them before they ask the children to sing together with them. After the story, the children were taught to use paper fasteners to create the characters of the play. After which, the children were invited to the front of the room with their newly created sculptures to sing the song, "Someday I will help you" again.

Creating the sculptures
This library programme is part of "Press Play" series of youth art programmes. This programme is free but registration is required before you turn up at the library. Registration can be done at the library e-kiosks or http://golibrary.nlb.gov.sg/programme/Arts.aspx

PS: the session we have attended is meant for 3-6 yo. We are not sure whether the same animal craft would be introduce for the rest of the sessions.

Ah girl was smiling and trying to sing along.

Cool idea huh? If you are creative enough, you may learn to do more animal art from these fasteners. If you have done similar crafts, probably you would like to share?
