Little One @ the Museum: Return to Sender

A new exhibition is spotted at Singapore Philatelic Museum : Return to sender. Guess who is the star of this exhibition? (Hint: Look at the silhouette and the title of the exhibition. ) Shouldn't be much of a difficulty for those who are born before 1980s, especially his fans!

Let me introduce the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley! Confession: I am not his fan and had not heard about him till I was in Junior College? Ha ha... who am I kidding? But I am really not his fan. I am more into Mandarin Pop. Any way, it was around that period of time because I first read about him from one of my sister's books. Believe it or not, it was a ghost story...
Even a non-fan like me can't wait to explore!

Before Elvis, there was nothing
- John Lennon
If Elvis had lived, he would be 80 years old this year. The exhibition traces the life of the King of Rock and Roll who launched a new music genre through his passion for singing. With his unique style and good looks, he captured the hearts and attention of a huge numbers of followers. The Elvis phenomenon went beyond the US, it went to Canada, the UK, Europe, Australia and even Asia.

Timeline of Elvis life
On display are objects from a private collector. Started around the same time as Elvis’s discovery, they include vinyl records, movie posters, fan magazines, commemorative books and philatelic materials.

Philatelic materials

Pretty impressive collection of First Day of Issue

Old photographs

Snapshots of his life from young till stardom. Vinyl records.
The young Elvis, particularly like the toddler picture

You may want to play some of his songs while browsing through the exhibition. Just press on the  buttons below the neon lights "Elvis".
On  the right bottom right corner is an autographed poster of Elvis in  his US army uniform.

Also, exhibited his report cards
These are probably some models to die for.
He died of heart failure on 16th August 1977.  Newspaper articles showing how popular Elvis is. Despite  that he is no longer around, he lives in the hearts of his fans.
Fun Factor for pre-school kids
Little One simply loves pressing buttons to listen to Elvis hit songs. While in the exhibition she did some pretend-play that she is a singer.
